Infinity in the Palm of My Hand

Thank you, Raja Sen

For this, even though its very unlikely that it will affect Mr. CC.

Also, a little bit of peace comes my way in the form of Zinda getting a poor opening.

George has more.

My new year's resolutions

15 days late, but here they are. I resolve:

1) To not envy the happiness of others or the perceived simplicity of their lives.

2) To start being here now.

3) To learn better.

Family

The worst Rajkumar Santoshi movie ever. And this guy did Barsaat, so you can imagine how bad Family must be. I had hopes for a decent flick, but this turned out to be unbearable trash. How can a Rajkumar Santoshi project with Amitabh Bachchan, Sushant Singh, Shernaz Patel, Akshay Kumar, Sridhar Raghavan and Tigmanshu Dhulia be so awful? Because it turns out that Family is meant to be a showcase for producer Keshu's son, Aryeman, who is about as talented as Arman "Jaani Dushman" Kohli, but wants the audience to see him as the new angry young man.

See Kalpurush...

...to see why I think Mithun is a very talented actor.

And this splendid movie has a lot to offer apart from a portrayal of his skills.

Hostel

Talk about missing a great opportunity.

This could have been a very disturbing, very scary movie. A great premise, great locations, and an enthusiasm for gore, but with an impatient director who doesn't understand the value of a build-up, it all pretty much goes to waste. Well, not entirely. The gore is still quite enjoyable, but the movie doesn't strike fear in either the heart or the mind.

Somebody saved me

Taran Adarash's review of Zinda does mention that its story has been borrowed from Oldboy. Borrowed???

Good enough though.

The review is the standard Taran Adarsh fare. Say the movie is great, its novel, its gut-wrenching, blah blah, blah...I liked it, but since the Indian audience is not as mature as I am, it won't work at the box office.

It is awfully irritating to read any praise for someone as talentless as Sanjay Gupta, especially when it is to the level of calling him "one of the brightest names on film firmament", but I got my gift, so I am going to let the review be.

Darna Zaroori Hai

Trailer's out.

Not too impressive, but nonetheless, fingers crossed. Still have hopes from The Factory.

A good gift for me would be...

...an Indian movie journalist mentioning that Zinda is a ripoff of Oldboy. Not demanding a lot. Just a small mention is enough. Don't even say its a ripoff. Just say that Zinda's tailer seems to indicate that Oldboy might be a source of inspiration. Thats enough.

Another article that doesn't do it.

Dude isn't happy with just ripping off movies and calling himself a filmmaker, dude has to go around bragging about how good "his material" is. In a sane world, someone would get Mr. Gupta to shut up. Even if it required the use of duct tape.

Yes, I am becoming obsessed with this.

Another Bhatt bites the dust

Mahesh Bhatt's son is also in.

P.S.: I know the title of the post is lame. Reminders are not needed.

7:23 pm

His night had been awful. His whole week had been awful. Sleep had eluded him, so had peace. As he turned around the corner, he saw Fiona at the bus stop. Hope arose. All he needed was one smile from her. He ran towards the bus stop. But before he could get there, the bus came and Fiona was gone.

He fell, and never got up.

Yay!

The Canucks finally beat the Flames.

Hope this signals the end of their slump.

Here's the first one

Managed to rent Wedding Crashers from Blockbuster on the first Friday night after its DVD release. I arrive at the counter just as someone's returning a copy...no copy available for the person before me, no copy available for the person after me. Sweet :)

I am ready...

...for magical things to happen to me.

And then we wonder why we get the movies we do

This is something I shouldn't have read just before heading to bed. Very angry dreams are in store tonight.

"Gupta is maintaining a veil of secrecy vis-à-vis the content of the film"

Yes, (once again) he is not owning up to being an imitator.

"The final length of the film is 1.54 hours."

1 hour, 32 minutes and 24 seconds? Their "jasoos" sure knows how to be accurate.

"Expletives like the ‘F’ word are randomly used in the film because the script demands it."

How can it be random if the script demands it?

"Both Sanju and John have delivered the best performances of their career."

And we all know how high a standard John Abraham has set so far with his "performances".

"With so much going in its favor, ZINDA should prove to be a landmark film for Gupta, Dutt and John."

Pretty similar to what Taran Adarsh had said for Musafir, isn't it?

Beginning on a wonderful note

I love having friends who make way more money than I do.

Another day

Another year.
